Cassandra Peterson (Elvira) grew up in the town of Randolph, Kansas, which located about 20 miles from Manhattan, Kansas, where she also attended school.

Dr. Lodewijk van den Berg is a chemical engineer and known for his work on mercuric iodide (HgI2) materials and detectors. Dr. van den Berg is famous as an astronaut, where he was a crew member on the Challenger for the STS-51B Spacelab-3 mission in 1985, where he grew HgI2 crystals in space.
